Instruction set reference
HIPE_OP_GET_STYLE
Requests the resolved value of a CSS style property on a particular element - i.e. the actual value in effect once the display server applies cascading and inheritance, not just whatever (if anything) happens to be set directly on the element itself. Use this instead of HIPE_OP_GET_ATTRIBUTE with an attribute name of "style" when the property you want might only be in effect via an inherited or cascaded rule - for example, a background colour coming from a loaded theme stylesheet rather than a literal style="..." written onto the element.
- location: the location of the element whose style to resolve. 0 for the client's own <body> element.
- arg[0]: the name of the CSS property (e.g. "background-color", "color").
- requestor: A user defined value to be passed back to the client in the return instruction.
Notes
After sending this instruction to the display server, the Hipe server process will send a HIPE_OP_STYLE_RETURN instruction back to the client in reply.
This instruction does not retry or block waiting for a layout pass to complete. If the element hasn't actually been rendered yet, or the property name given isn't a CSS property the display server recognises, the value returned may be an empty string - if that matters for your use case, retry the request again after a short delay.
